1. Purpose and Structure

1.1 Purpose

The Mikhang’a Champions League exists to:

  • Reward consistency and performance in daily Champ Challe tournaments.
  • Maintain a transparent and official ranking table.
  • Build a long-term competitive ecosystem within Mikhang’a Chess Club.
  • Recognize both seasonal performance and lifetime achievement.

1.2 League Philosophy

The league operates under the following principles:

  • Merit-based ranking.
  • Consistency over time.
  • Transparency through the official website.
  • Long-term identity through lifetime badges.
  • Simplicity in structure to preserve fairness.

2. Season Framework

2.1 Season Duration

Each league season runs for 10 months:

Start: 1 March End: 31 December

2.2 Seasonal Reset

  • Seasonal rankings reset at the beginning of each new season.
  • Players start each season with zero seasonal league points.
  • Lifetime badge points do not reset.

2.3 Eligible Events

Only official Champ Challe daily tournaments organized under Mikhang’a Chess Club on Lichess are eligible for league points.

The official Lichess standings are the final authority for placement.

3. Points Allocation

3.1 Scoring System

For every eligible tournament:

  • 🥇 1st Place — 4 Points
  • 🥈 2nd Place — 3 Points
  • 🥉 3rd Place — 2 Points
  • 🏅 4th Place — 1 Point

Only Top 4 players receive league points.

3.2 No Bonus Multipliers

No additional bonus points shall apply unless officially announced before a season begins.

3.3 Official Placement Authority

If players tie on score in a tournament:

  • The official final Lichess ranking determines placement.
  • No manual adjustments shall be made.

4. Participation Requirement (25% Rule)

4.1 Purpose

To protect the integrity of the league and prevent low-participation exploitation.

4.2 Eligibility Requirement

To qualify for Top 10 season-end cash prizes:

A player must participate in at least 25% of all eligible tournaments held during the season.

4.3 Calculation Example

If 200 eligible tournaments are hosted during the season:

  • 25% participation = 50 tournaments minimum.

Players below the participation threshold:

  • May appear in rankings,
  • But are not eligible for season prizes.

4.4 Transparency

The official website will display:

  • Total eligible tournaments hosted.
  • Individual participation count.
  • Participation threshold required.

5. Rankings and Log Table

5.1 Official Log Table

The official league table is maintained on the Mikhang’a website.

5.2 Update Mechanism

  • Rankings update after tournament results are recorded.
  • The website is the authoritative ranking source.

5.3 Season Champion Determination

At season end:

  • Final rankings are determined by total seasonal league points.
  • Participation requirement must be met for prize eligibility.

6. Lifetime Badge System

6.1 Purpose

The Lifetime Badge System recognizes long-term contribution and performance across all seasons.

6.2 Lifetime Points

Lifetime badge levels are determined by:

The total cumulative league points earned across all seasons.

Season resets do NOT affect lifetime points.

6.3 Badge Levels (Ascending)

6.4 Badge Determination

  • Badge levels are calculated automatically based on lifetime total points.
  • Badge thresholds are published on the official website.
  • Badge thresholds may be refined before a new season begins.

6.5 Badge Independence

Badge levels:

  • Do NOT influence seasonal ranking.
  • Do NOT provide bonus league points.
  • Represent long-term status only.

7. Prizes

7.1 Season-End Awards

At the conclusion of the season:

  • The Top 10 ranked players (meeting eligibility requirements) receive cash prizes.

7.2 Prize Announcement

Prize amounts and distribution will be announced before season end.

7.3 Eligibility Conditions

To receive a prize, a player must:

  • Finish within Top 10,
  • Meet the 25% participation requirement,
  • Not be disqualified under Section 8.

8. Fair Play Policy (Simplified)

8.1 Governing Authority

Mikhang’a Champions League follows Lichess fair play standards.

8.2 Automatic Disqualification Clause

If a player:

  • Is banned or officially sanctioned by Lichess for fair play violations during the season,

They automatically become ineligible for season prizes.

No independent investigations will be conducted by Mikhang’a administrators.

Lichess rulings are final.

9. Administrative Mediation

9.1 Scope of Administrative Authority

Administrators may intervene in cases involving:

  • Technical errors,
  • Data synchronization issues,
  • Website calculation anomalies,
  • Unforeseen circumstances not covered in this rulebook.

9.2 Mediation Principle

Administrative decisions must:

  • Preserve fairness,
  • Protect league integrity,
  • Be consistent with league principles.

9.3 Final Authority

Administrative decisions are final.

10. Amendments and Future Refinements

10.1 Season Stability

Rules will not change mid-season except under extreme circumstances affecting fairness or technical integrity.

10.2 Future Seasons

Administrators reserve the right to refine rules in future seasons to improve:

  • Competitive balance,
  • Participation fairness,
  • Structural clarity.

All changes will be publicly communicated before a new season begins.
